Between the two candidates is the slogan: "Let the issues be the issue".
The posters were designed by Tor Myhren, who told the design website coolhunter.net that they were intended as a message to the public that they should cast their votes based on the candidates' policies and ignore their racial differences.
However, Mr Myhren's message may not have reached as many people as he'd intended. The posters have swiftly become collectors' items, with several having been removed from streetsides by passers-by.

Os candidatos à presidência dos EUA Barack Hussein Obama e John McCain tiveram seus traços étnicos trocados neste poster de propaganda anti-racista, onde se lê a frase: "Let the issue be the issue", que pode ser traduzida por "Deixe que a questão crucial prevaleça". Ou seja, não se prenda pela etnia do candidato, mas por suas propostas.
Os cartazes foram desenhados por Tor Myhren, que disse ao site coolhunter.net que a intenção é transmitir aos eleitores a idéia de que devem votar com base nas idéias dos candidatos, e não em suas diferenças étnicas.
Todavia, a mensagem de Myhren poderá não chegar a tanta gente quanto ele pretendia, pois os cartazes estão sendo levados por passantes, como suvenires.
